Thomas is an Advocate and a Partner at Rex. He is the head of the Banking, Financial law and Project Finance department. Thomas has over ten (10) years of experience having joined the firm as a junior counsel and rising to the position of a Partner. He predominantly focuses on corporate transactions, banking, financing of projects, capital market transactions, mergers and acquisitions, projects, competition and intellectual property.

Furthermore, Thomas has experience in commercial and civil litigation including firsthand experience in International Arbitration. The most recent example is his participation as a team member in one of the most significant international arbitration cases (ICC) for Tanzania involving the predominant electricity and power supply company in Tanzania, TANESCO, where he was one of the lawyers representing TANESCO in two international arbitrations taking place in Dubai, UAE and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

He is currently advising clients, both local and international, in some of the major transactions in banking and finance, a significant power generation project which also has an element of financing, an ongoing bond transaction and an M&A transaction involving acquisition of the leading automotive company in Tanzania, just to mention a few.

Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in law, LL.B (Hons) from Middlesex University, London and a master’s degree (LL.M) from Nottingham Trent University, Nottingham.

Thomas is a member of Tanganyika Law Society (“TLS”) and East Africa Law Society (“EALS”).
